Cherokee號稱是目前最快的Web服務器軟件，在性能上，甚至比Nginx還略勝一籌。與Apache、Lighttpd、Nginx等其他同類軟件的對比，大家不妨看看這個測試頁面。其易用性做得也很不錯。

Cherokee的功能包括支持FastCGI、SCGI、PHP、CGI、TLS及SSL加密連接，虛擬主機，授權認證，實時編碼，載入均衡，與Apache兼容的log文件等等。

Cherokee內含一個名為cherokee-admin的工具，執行后，允許管理員直接通過瀏覽器進入http://localhost:9090/對其進行管理和配置。比如，開啟或關閉服務器，進行一般選項的設定，配置虛擬服務器、信息源、圖標、Mime類型等項目。

今天Cherokee發布了1.2.0版本，這是一個全新的版本號，之前是1.0.x。

與前一個版本相比較，該版本主要改進包括如下方面：

新增: "Drop Connection" handler

FIX: Milliseconds handle on 32bits computers (#1132)

FIX: Mono wizard problem addressed (#1130)
